Personality
disorders - Antisocial personality disorder
In the description
below a stereotype is used to give you an idea of the disorder. However,
not all people who have this disorder display all these
characteristics, and not all people have these characteristics to the
same degree.
Description
People with this disorder are often recognized as criminals. They break
the law. They are very impulsive: they instantly do whatever comes to
their mind and don't care what other people think about them. Moreover,
they have little fear of the police.
Normal
A lot of people break the law. These people do not automatically have
an antisocial personality disorder. Most people who break the law feel
(somewhat) responsible for their deeds and can change by external pressure
(parents, family, friends).
Abnormal
Someone with this disorder does not feel responsible for what is done.
They don't care about the opinion of other people. Because of this,
these people hardly have any friends or other relationships. They often
get involved in criminal activities.
